SCIENTIFIC RESULTS AND AWARDS:

To date, his publications count over 9000 citations and his H-Index is 33. Focusing on the last 5 years, the citations are ovr 8000 and the H-index is equal to 31 (source Google Scholar, July 2023).

The publication “bibliometrix: An R-tool for comprehensive science mapping analysis”, published in 2017 in the Journal of Informetrics (Rank 1° in Information Library and Computer Science category, IF 5.107), is the most cited ever in the journal (source Scopus 3200 citations, source Google Scholar 5500 citations) and a top-downloaded article (source: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1751157717300500).

SOCIAL IMPACT OF HIS RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

Bibliometrix and its Biblioshiny web app are considered to be the most complete and user-friendly science mapping software.

In a recent survey on bibliometric analysis tools, Moral-Muñoz et al. (2020) wrote: “At this moment, maybe Bibliometrix and its Shiny platform contain the more extensive set of techniques implemented, and together with the easiness of its interface, could be a great software for practitioners” (Moral-Muñoz, JAM, Viedma, EH, Espejo, ALS, & Cobo, MJ (2020).

Bibliometrix is one of the most used science mapping software. Today, it counts 350.000 installations, and there is a large community of researchers who actively participate in the dissemination of the correct use of bibliometric techniques for systematic literature reviews through Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny.

This community has produced more than 100 video tutorials posted on YouTube in different languages, illustrating the use of bibliometrix.

In the last 4 years, Professor Aria has held more than 40 seminars in many Italian doctoral schools (Universities of Bergamo, Brescia, Calabria, Genoa, Polytechnic Milan, Naples, Pisa, Rome, and Salento to mention a few) and foreign ones (for example Universities of Bodo-Norway, Edinburgh, Granada, London, Melbourne, and Paris).
